SSSC - Memory Box Frame

Thank you for joining us today for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog Hop.  This month instead of having a sketch challenge the lovely Hannah of Stampin' By Hannah has given us a colour challenge and these are the colours she chose:

Please continue the hop by clicking on the 'Next' or 'Previous' buttons at the bottom of this post.

I absolutely adore the new 2017/19 In Colors and Fresh Fig happens to be one of my favourites, it is so luxurious.  I had a look through my stamps for images I could use with these colours and decided to use the new Crafting Forever stamp set.

As this stamp set is craft related my idea was to have the scissors and the pot of paintbrushes on a worktop in a craft room.  For the 'wallpaper' I used a piece of Fresh Fig DSP from the new Fresh Florals DSP stack, there are 40 sheets of 12"x12" in this stack.

The Birthday Wishes Challenge Weekend

I've been waiting so long for today to come and I'm so excited it's finally here. "Why is today so exciting?" I hear you ask.  I am 1 of 6 U.K. demonstrators who are spending the day in London as VIP Guests at the Birthday Wishes Challenge kick-off event.  For me the best part of today is that the event is being held at Ronald McDonald Evelina House.

I feel so privileged being able to spend the day doing something to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) which is such a wonderful charity and doing something I love, making cards.

When we were told we had been chosen we were given a challenge to try to make 100 Birthday cards, yes 100 cards each and we were only allowed to use the Sharing Sweet Thoughts stamp set which is the new RMHC stamp set for 2017/18.

Sharing Sweet Thoughts Stamp Set

When we found out there wasn't a Birthday sentiment in the stamp set we were told we could use any Birthday sentiment we had.  I immediately thought of the beautiful font used in Birthday Blast so I designed 2 cards around this sentiment.  When I found out the stamp set was going to retire at the end of May the rebellious side of me came out and said "use it anyway".

Everything is already prepped for my 1st card.

To try to make as many cards as I can all the cards I've designed are quick and easy to make.  I have prepped as much as possible before hand so today will be a bit of stamping, some colouring and then adhering everything.  My Hubby is my carer and he will be staying with me all day so I've roped him into doing some of the colouring too.

Stampin' Up! are supplying Whisper White and Very Vanilla note cards and envelopes, adhesives, grid paper, bone folders and snips.  They also gave us a copy of the Sharing Sweet Thoughts stamp set last month. They are really spoiling us.

I have stamped and cut the Very Vanilla cardstock and cut 60 Basic Black matts.

The 3rd card I designed is using the Birthday sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the branch inside the jar and to make it look like one of the butterflies was on the branch.  Everything I will need to make these cards has been pre-cut/die-cut for quickness.

On Monday we received todays itinerary and we're going to have lots of fun.  As the theme is 'Birthday' todays event is a Birthday Party with party decorations and music. There will be 4 Facebook Live videos today on the Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Wishes Challenge Facebook page.  The 1st video will be at 10.25 a.m.  There will be competitions and updates during the Facebook Live videos too. The last Facebook Live video will be at 3.50 p.m. where they will announce the total number of cards we have made today.  Paula Gorry, Lucy Jordan and the 6 demonstrators are aiming for 800.

During the event I will be posting lots of photo's and giving progress updates on my Facebook page Lady Dee's Craft Forum.  I would love it if you could leave comments and messages of encouragement.  I also have a 'guess the amount of cards made at todays event' competition on my Lady Dee's Craft Forum too.  The person with the closest guess will receive a surprise in the post.  The competition is open to everyone not just U.K. residents.

I'm off to have some fun at our Birthday Party.

Have yourself some crafting fun.

10,000 Card Challenge

In February Stampin' Up! asked their U.K. demonstrators to help make 10,000 cards, over 2 weekends in 2017, for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).  The Birthday Wishes Challenge is this weekend 23rd-25th June and the Christmas Cheer Challenge will be held on 1st-3rd December, 2017.  For more information on the Birthday Wishes Challenge, the 10,000 cards challenge and the Ronald McDonald House Charities please click here.

The products used to make todays project are listed below. If you would like to order any Stampin' Up! products click on an image and you will be directed to my online store.

Product List

*When designing a project or when I CASE a project I always use my cheap cardstock to make a prototype before making it with my Stampin' Up! cardstock.   I do check the measurements I add to my blog posts but when typing lots of measurements mistakes can be made.  When making any project I recommend making it first with cheap cardstock before using your best cardstock.*

Beautiful Bookmarks - Pretty Label Punch Showcase

Thank you for joining me today for the final instalment of my Pretty Label Punch Showcase.  If you would like to see the other projects I have made using the Pretty Label punch click on the photos at the bottom of this post and you will be taken to the blog post.

When I was using the Pretty Label punch for the bottom of my screen card I came up with another use for the punch, it could be used for bookmarks.  I measured one of the punched labels and cut a piece of Whisper White Thick cardstock to 1-7/8" x 6-1/4".   At the top of the cardstock I measured 1/2" from the top on both sides and added a small pencil mark.  When I fed the cardstock through the punch I lined the pencil lines up on each side to make sure the top was straight before punching.

Pootlers Blog Hop - 2017/2018 Annual Catalogue

I'm so excited because it's that time of year again where the Pootler's get to show you some of the fabulous products in the new 2017/18 Annual catalogue.  It doesn't feel like it's been a year since the launch of the 2016/17 Annual catalogue but as the saying goes 'time flies when you're having fun' and I'm having so much fun being a demonstrator.

I love taking part in the Pootler's blog hops because my fellow Pootler's are super talented and the blog hops are always full of inspiration. Please continue hopping by clicking on the 'Next' or 'Previous' buttons at the bottom of this post.

Todays project was meant to be a card with a sponged background but that all changed when I got my sponges out.  In my craft room everything I use regularly has to be organised and within reach.  I don't use my sponges very often so the sponges for my Stampin' Up! inks were in an ice cream tub with sponges I had for cheap inks.  I was getting inky fingers and wasting so much time trying to find the right sponges it was driving me mad. I had to find a better way to store them.

Sharing Sweet Thoughts - Pretty Label Punch Showcase

Next Friday I will be a VIP guest at the Stampin' Up! 'Birthday Wishes Challenge' kick-off event in London where we will be making cards for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

UK demonstrators were asked to register their interest in holding their own Birthday Wishes event and everyone who put their name forward would have the chance of becoming a VIP guest.  I've been making cards for the RMHC since February 2016 and I loved the idea of cardmaking with a few friends.  Being chosen as 1 of the 6 VIP guests is amazing, I get to spend the day in the newest Ronald McDonald House making cards for a truly amazing charity.

Today's four little note cards were made with the Pretty Label punch and the new Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set.

Simple yet Stunning Screen Card - Pretty Label Punch Showcase

Thank you for joining me today for the 2nd part of my Pretty Label punch Showcase.  If you missed part 1 and would like to see it click here

One of the reasons I didn't want the Decorative Label punch to retire was that I loved the look the punch gave to the bottom of a screen card.

When the new Pretty Label Punch was delivered by my lovely UPS man I couldn't wait to see if I could use it for my screen cards and it turned out I could.

Well that was it I was cutting, scoring and burnishing Thick Whisper White card so that I could make some screen cards.  I used UK A4 cardstock because I know everyone doesn't have 12"x12" card in their stash.  I made quite a few cards but I want to share my favourite one with you today .  It was really quick to make and I think it looks stunning, the photo's really don't do it justice.

I'm Not Just A Pretty Label - Pretty Label Punch Showcase

I was really upset when I found out Stampin' Up! were going to retire the Decorative Label Punch because I used it for more than just punching labels.  What could they bring out that would be better?  I had to wait until early April to find out.

When I got to see the Pretty Label Punch in the online version of the new Annual Catalogue I wasn't very impressed but when pre-order time came I ordered the bundle (the punch and the Label Me Pretty stamp set).  Now I have had time to play with these the punch is so much better than the old Decorative Label punch

As the title of this blog post says the new Pretty Label punch is not just for making pretty labels.  This week I have several blog posts showcasing how versatile the Pretty Label punch is.  The punch can be purchased on it's own or as a bundle and the images in the Label Me Pretty stamp set are gorgeous.

Today I will be focusing on the punch's intended purpose and showing you how lovely the images in the stamp set are.

Wedding Keyrings Box Tutorial

My daughter Kayleigh had bought a set of Mr & Mrs Keyrings for her friends wedding in October but the box they came in was really cheap and tacky so I offered to make a 'Book Style' box to put them in.

My M.E. has got worse and for months I have been struggling with Chronic Pain/Fatigue and partway through making the box I had to take some timeout to rest and relax.  After a few weeks of rest I have now finished the box and I'm so chuffed with it I wanted to share it with you.

Wedding Keyrings Box

Thank you for visiting today.  Just a quick blog post because later today my daughter Kayleigh is taking me away for a weeks respite.  I have M.E. and for the last few months I have been struggling with chronic fatigue and pain so I'm hoping a week of rest will recharge my batteries.

My daughters best friend is getting married later this year and she asked me to make a box for a set of Mr & Mrs keyrings she had bought for them.  I have seen quite a few 'book style' boxes being made recently and as I have never made one before I wanted to give it a try.

Global Design Project #084

For the last few months I've been trying to take part in the Global Design Project challenges but I always run out of time so this week I made sure I set aside enough time to make my 1st card for the challenge.

This weeks Global Design Project challenge is Case the Designer and as soon as I saw the beautiful card created by Michelle Last I knew what I would make.  If you haven't heard of Case the Designer CASE stands for Copy And Selectively Edit - you take what you like from the design and make your own version.

Michelle's card reminded me of an idea I had for a card back in February.  I wanted to make my Son a card using the Woodland embossing folder and have the motorbike, from One Wild Ride, look as though it was behind the trees.  I forgot about my original idea and made him a totally different card, I do that a lot.

This GDP challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to turn my idea into a finished project.  The card I created is different to my original idea but I love it and it's all thanks to Michelle's design.

Pootlers April Birthday Blog Hop - It's my Birthday

Thank you for joining me for todays Pootles Birthday Club Blog Hop. The projects you will see today were all created by Pootler's who have April Birthdays. I love taking part in the Pootler's blog hops, my creativity goes into overdrive and every blog hop they do has so many beautiful and inspirational projects. Please click on the images at the bottom of this blog post to see their creations.

This year I have a 'big Birthday' and I will be celebrating today AND tomorrow. Why am I having 2 days of celebrations? My Birthday is tomorrow but both of my children will be working and because they like to see me open my presents we are all getting together today. Later today my daughter Kayleigh has organised an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden (weather permitting) for our 2 godsons who are 8 and 3, their Mum (dad has to work today), my 2 children (who are 28 & 24) and my sons fiancĂ©e. Tomorrow I have family and friends coming round to celebrate with me.

Anyway, onto today's project. They say "a Lady never tells her age" but my card definitely gives away my age.

I planned to make an A5 card so I started by cutting a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the top matting layer and scored this into 6 equal sections.

Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday - Dimensional Flowers and Monkeying Around cards

Firstly I would like to apologise for not sending out a blog post last Sunday.  I have been so busy trying to organise/set-up a monthly workshop in my area as well as trying to find time to make Birthday cards for my Son and my Mother-in-Law as well as make her Mothers Day Card and present.

Today is my final Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday post, there are only 5 days of Sale-A-Bration left.  I have loved the amazing selection of free gifts Stampin' Up! have given us this year and it will be strange not adding a free gift when I place my next order.  Yes I will definitely miss Sale-A-Bration.

Today I have 2 Sale-A-Bration items that I would like to show you.  The Inside the Lines DSP has become one of my favourites, you can use either watercolour pencils or alcohol markers to colour the images.  There are 3 sheets of each of the 4 designs, each sheet is 12"x12".

I decided to use my alcohol markers to colour in some of the flowers on my card because I have used the watercolour pencils for a lot of my recent projects.

Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday

Thank you for joining me for todays Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday.  Today I am focusing on the 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper Assortment pack.  The pack has 4 sheets of each of the 3 colours - Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum and the sparkle on them is amazing.

The Glimmer Paper has been one of the most popular free Sale-A-Bration products
and there are only 19 days until the end of Sale-A-Bration.  As we are nearing the end of the Sale-A-Bration event product availability is whilst supplies last.

I have spent the last couple of days playing with the Glimmer Paper Assortment pack and there is glitter EVERYWHERE!!  The worktops, the Big Shot and I look like we have been showered with fairy dust and how did I end up with glitter in my bra?  When todays project was finished it was definitely worth the amount of cleaning up I need to do tomorrow.

I really love the Birthday card and box I made using the Bermuda Bay glimmer paper.  This is one of those projects I don't want to give away, I want to keep it for myself.

The lovely UPS man had just delivered my box of Stampin' Up! goodies that had Glimmer Paper and the Window Shopping Bundle as well as a few other goodies.  I couldn't wait to play with the glimmer paper and the hexagonal box die, I was like a child at Christmas.

Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday

Thank you for joining me today for my 5th Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday project.  There are 26 days left to get free Sale-A-Bration products so if there are Stampin' Up! products you have been waiting to order now is the time to place that order and get free products too. You can choose a free Sale-A-Bration product for every £45 you spend (before shipping).  Sale-A-Bration items are only available whilst supplies last.

I found it quite challenging to come up with ideas for using the Carried Away Designer Series Paper without having a hot air balloon stamp or die.  I love the Lift Me Up stamp set and the Up & Away Thinlits dies, they are on my Wish List but every time I go to order them I find something else.  Does this happen to you too?  When I order them I'm going to get the Lift Me Up bundle because you save 10% and who doesn't like to save money?

The 1st project I made with the Carried Away DSP was a fish themed card that I made for my Nieces 21st Birthday.  Before I posted the card I photographed it, added the watermark and then realised the stamp set I used had retired.  I have added the photos at the bottom of this post because you don't really need the stamp set to make the card you could just use the Festive Flower Builder Punch.

I love making 3D projects and the '2 4 6 8' box is really quick and simple to make but what could I add to the front of it?  I Googled 'unusual shaped hot air balloons' and one of the pictures gave me the idea to use the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits Dies.  These dies make beautiful Christmas Ornaments but it's nice to be able to use them for non-Christmas projects too.

Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday

I can't believe we are more than half way through Sale-A-Bration.  I am always excited when my Stampin' Up! order arrives but it's even more exciting when there are Sale-A-Bration products in there as well.  When you see the Sale-A-Bration products in a brochure or online it isn't the same as having them in your hands and having fun seeing what you can create with them.  Stampin' Up! now have 15 Sale-A-Bration products to choose from.

Today I would like to share with you the card I made using the Hey Chick stamp set.  When I first saw this stamp set in the brochure I didn't like it but when I saw some of the projects that had been created with it I chose this stamp set as my free gift when I placed my next order. The Hey Chick stamp set is available in Wood Mount or Clear Mount, the links are at the bottom of this post.

The layout for today's card came from a sketch challenge that was on a Stampin' Up! forum run by Amanda Charlesworth.  As soon as I saw the sketch I knew it was perfect to use with the Hey Chick stamp set.

Tasty Trucks Melon Mambo Card

Last Sunday I shared my cute little Tasty Trucks card that I made as part of my Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday series (click here if you would like to see the card).

As soon as I had finished the card I had the idea to make another background using the pancakes, cupcake and ice cream stamps that are in the Tasty Trucks stamp set.

The new card I have made would be suitable for an adult or a child.

Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday

Thank you for joining me today for my Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday series.  The card I would like to share with you today was made using the Tasty Trucks stamp set  and the Any Occasion stamp set.  The little truck in the Tasty Trucks stamp set is so cute, I couldn't wait to get in my craftroom and start playing.

The original cards I made for today's blog were made with DSP that was on the Clearance Rack but unfortunately that has now sold out.  When you want to recreate a project you have seen and you find it has been made with items that are no longer available I know how frustrating it can be.  I will include photos of the first cards I made at the bottom of this post because they could be recreated using a different DSP/background.
